For more than 100
years, the Missouri Athletic Club has been an important aspect
of the St. Louis community. The MAC has developed a way
for members to give time and resources back to the community. The
Board of Governors, in conjunction with the Club Life Committee,
developed a charity program that allows members to donate to
three area organizations. Each year, the MAC Charitable Society
for Children selects three beneficiaries. In
2009, the CWC donated to its three charities:
Angels' Arms, CHADS Coalition for Mental Health and Lift For Life Gym. Checks were delivered in January.
2010 donations
are now being collected for:
Friends of Kids with Cancer
Good Shepherd School for Children
Guardian Angel Settlement Association
Friends of Kids with Cancer enriches the daily lives of children undergoing treatment for cancer and blood related disesases through recreational, educational and emotional programs. Good Shepherd School for Children is dedicated to providing quality inclusive education for children with special needs and typically developing children from ages six weeks to six years. Exceptional learning and growth experiences are supplemented by therapeutic services as needed, up to age eighteen. Guardian Angel Settlement Association provides social services and developmental childcare to families and children living in poverty in the City of St. Louis.
Money is collected monthly and will be held in escrow until January of the following year, at which time the collections will be divided equally and delivered to the three deserving organizations. You choose how little or how much you would like to give. Your monthly donation will be added to your MAC statement.
Your input on needy organizations is always welcome. Let St. Louis know that one of its oldest clubs cares about its community. Please check the amount you would like to donate and return the enclosed form to the Missouri Athletic Club. The amount will be reflected on your monthly statement.
If you have any additional ideas to enhance the success of this program, or for information regarding your donation, contact Sam Hopmeier, Charitable Society for Children Chairman, by e-mail at hopmeier@aol.com or phone 314-434-5266.
