Youth Specialty Summer Camps
Throughout the summer, MAC West offers various youth athletic camps specializing in one sport. The camps are offered to youth ages 5-18. Participants will be divided into groups: 5 to 8, 9 to 13 year olds and 14 to 18 year olds.

Golf Camp

Ages 8 and up Members, $130 Members’ Guests, $159

Introduction to the game, develop skills, golf etiquette, rules and strategies taught. Learn stance, grip, chipping, putting, scoring, and so much more! Experience everything from, stroke play and match play competition, course preparation, pressure situations, and mental techniques in an ultimate fun environment. Each camper will play golf and mini golf putt putt. MAC/PlyoCity Sports Performance Summer Training Program by Heather Kea
Starts June 9 (Tuesdays and Thursdays), 4-5 p.m. $99 per month, members

Take your game to the next level. The program is a terrific way for youth athletes to prepare for tryouts and competition in the fall and winter. For more information, see page 19.

Heather Kea played Division 1 volleyball for University of Tennessee at Martin. As captain for all four years at Tennessee, Heather led her team to two Conference titles. She is an experienced coach, having coached at both the high school and club coaching level. In 2006, Heather’s club team qualified for Nationals in New Orleans. As a plyometric trainer for PlyoCity, Heather has extensive experience training athletes to be faster and more explosive for all sports.

Lacrosse Camp by Mike Donio

Mike Donio is the Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach at CBC. He started a lacrosse club at the University of Kentucky. After graduation he taught and coached football at Summit High School in New Jersey and coached lacrosse at the Pingry School. While in New Jersey, he continued to play lacrosse for three years in the summers with the New Jersey Lacrosse Club. He is in his sixth year with the CBC Lacrosse program.

The clinic will consist of tumbling where kids of any size can learn basic stretches and tumbling skills that are the basis of gymnastics. The second half of the clinic is Acro, an amazing spectators sport that is currently competitive in the Junior Olympics and exhibits at the Olympics. The clinic will consist of basic stunting skills needed to give a basic understanding of weight sharing, body control, balance and strength. Taught by Mrs. Missouri Caitlin Corry.

Caitlin Corry has a BA in dance performance and choreography from Lindenwood University and over 21 years of classical dance training in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, pointe and contemporary. She toured internationaly with Sesame Street Live as a character and dancer, and also in the Muny.

Fencing Clinic with Coach Hassan

Engarde! This week long camp offers students an excellent introduction to the Olympic sport of fencing. Often called “physical chess,” fencing is a safe and fun activity that hones both the body and the mind. Students will learn basic fencing skills, strategy, footwork and techniques. Training will include stretching, drills, supervised fencing bouts, games and other fun activities.

Formerly coach of the National Egyptian team, Hossam Hassan has 32 years of fencing experience and has trained many internationally ranked athletes, including the Egyptian men’s foil team, who in 2004 qualified to fence at the Olympic Games in Athens. Assistant Coach Philip Janini will help run the classes.

Youth Spring Break Sports Camp
Dates: March. 15 - 26
Cost: $25 per half-day, $50 for full-day (full day includes lunch)
Cost: Non-Members $35 per half -day, $60 for full- day (full-day includes lunch)
Activities: includes tennis, squash, racquet ball, kick ball, dodge ball, flag football, basketball, soccer, arts and craft, sharks & minnows, and many more!
Participants must sign up per day.

Eric Saxton attended by Devalls Bluff High School, in Arkansas. There he played football, baseball and basketball, lettering in all three sports. He was the only player to lead the team in rushing yards and tackles in same season. He led the basketball team to two State Runner-Up titles. Eric went on to attend Capital University. He had a tryout with the Cleveland Browns and a brief playing period with the Toronto Argos. Eric has done professional sport camps for over ten years. During that time he has mentally and physically helped athletes reach an extremely high level in their particular sport. Eric has received a ton of credit for his clinics both individually and on a team bases from coaches and parents that spent a few weeks working with him or prior to their season . More importantly the participant has gained a lot of confidence. He has worked with NFL, MISL, MLB, NBA players and coaches which has helped him with his own unique coaching style. He finds away to make it fun while they learn multiple techniques and fundamentals.
